The Blinds
In Hold’em, a marker is known as ‘the button’ or ‘the dealer button.’ The button indicates which player is the nominal dealer for the game.
Before starting the game, the player immediately clockwise from the button posts the “small blind” means the first forced bet. Now the player clockwise from the small blind posts the “big blind” and this blind is twice the size of the small blind. These blinds can vary depending on the stakes and betting structure.
As we discussed earlier the betting limits of the game, you would see the differences.
For example, in a ₹2/₹4 Limit game, the small blind is ₹1 and the big blind is ₹2.
In Pot Limit and No Limit games, the games are referred to by the size of their blinds.
Even the players also place ante bet which is a forced bet small than the blind by all players in the pot.
Now, each player receives two hole cards. Betting action moves forward clockwise around the table. It starts with the player who posts immediately clockwise from the big blind.
Player Betting Options
In betting options, you will be introduced with some forms of Poker such as fold, check, bet, call, or raise. Each action depends on the previous player’s action. Okay, let’s clarify this point. If nobody has placed any bet, then a player may decline to bet but keep his card which is called as “check.”
If a player has placed the bet, then subsequent players can fold, call or raise. The call is the term to match the betting from the previous player.
Pre-Flop
Each player will see his hole cards and the player gets the options to play his hand by raising the big blind. The process starts the left of the big blind, which is considered a ‘live’ bet on this round. The Player has the option to fold, call or raise.
For example, if your big blind was ₹2, it would cost ₹2 to call, or at least ₹4 to raise. Remember one thing that the betting structure varies with different variations of the game.
The Flop
The flop is processed when three cards are dealt face-up on the board. These three cards on the flop are community cards and these cards are available to all players still in the hand.
Now, when you start betting on the flop, the active player immediately clockwise from the button. The betting options are similar to pre-flop (if nobody has previously bet).
